    This early 20th Century cast iron fire door barrel weight was reclaimed from an 1878 foundry company. As a fire door weight, it was attached to a fusible link. If a fire started, the fusible link would melt and release this weight, closing the door to seal off the fire. Yikes ... Nowadays, it will hold your doors open; be one of those "I bet you'll never guess what this is" conversation pieces; or with enough reps, this 10 lbs weight will transform your biceps! Regardless, this is a rare piece of industrial "safety" equipment and deserves a good home with easier duties.
