The cardboards between which the certificate was mailed are also clean. 2) The Official envelope in which the Certificate was mailed is also included in this listing and is in very good shape for its age. There is some wrinkling and uneven edges but no major tears or holes. This envelope has additional data stamped on the inside flap.(see photo) 3) The Notice of Separation from the U S. Naval Service is original and on very thin paper. It is exactly as we found it carefully placed with the serviceman's other records. It is a bit smudged and has a section scotch-taped in the center. The document is "Certified to be a True Copy" and signed by the officer in charge.

    Description

NOTE: for privacy reasons We have removed for distorted the name of the sailor in this listing - but ONLY in the listing photos.  The original items that will be purchased have the name and all of the original information.
This listing is for the following items of a serviceman (enlisted in 1942; saw action during the war; and upon separation from his war duties joined the active reserve.):
    1) The Certificate of Satisfactory Service measures 8" x 9.5".  It is signed "For the President" by the Secretary of the Navy, James Forrestal, "For the President."  It is in outstanding condition.  The signature is a machine generated facsimile that was used on the many such certificates that had to be produced at the conclusion of the war. This Certificate was for this sailor's service in active duty in WWII.
2)The Government envelope in which the Certificate was mailed (from the Mail Room of the Officers Separation Center.) It measures about 12" x9.75".  It has loads of interesting information on it, including a note of the contents and the date, on the inside of the flap/
    3) The Notice of Separation from U.S. Navel Service (approx. 8" x10").  The "Weeks of Training" has been scotch-taped in and was part of the "True Copy" signed at the bottom of the paper. This was produced on very thin paper, so the condition of this document may look war-torn, but it is excellent when compared with other such items..
