He stripped off most of the original stain, but they'll still about another 2 - 3 of stripping and sanding before they are stain ready. You'll also need about another hour to clean the dried paint-stripper that spilled onto the glass.
Considering that they're well over 100 years old, the wooden frames are in great shape. There are a couple of stress cracks in a couple of corners that could only be seen when the doors are standing on edge. This is common for oak, which is a very dense wood. Over decades of the wood expanding and contracting due to fluctuations in temperature and humidity, the wood forms thin cracks. These are more cosmetic blemishes or character marks rather than structural threats, so no repair necessary. The wood is free from breaks, rot, gouges, scrapes, or loose joints.
Of course, the stars of the show are the glass lites/panels and they look as good as they did when they were first made. No breaks, cracks, nicks, spalls, or noticeable scratches. They are as close to mint as you could get for antique glass.
I took many photos and picked the best ones to include in this listing, but none truly convey just how beautiful and well-crafted these doors are. The lucky buyer will get the chance to appreciate and enjoy them for another lifetime.
