    Description

If you are the proud owner of a World War Two German Pistol having Serial Number 154015 (for example, a Walther PPK, or a Luger, or a P-38, and I suppose even an MP40), then this is one of the more lucky days in your collecting career.
This auction is for an original and rare 1945 WWII Certificate of Captured Enemy Equipment, made out for a pistol having the SN of 154015.  If you have that pistol, it is highly likely that this is the certificate that was issued to be able to bring back your pistol home from war time Europe!  This certificate can add a lot of interest and value to your pistol!
The certificate was issued on 25 November, 1945, to soldier, Edward Hampton, and was signed by Captain John F. Stokinger, QMG 3201 QM Serv, who was stationed in Augsburg, Germany, after V-E Day.  The certificate on the back has the inked address of Noel C. Taylor, in Bluefield West Virginia.
After WWII, soldiers were allowed, and even encouraged, to bring home War Trophies.  To ensure these were spoils of war and not US property, every trophy from the war had to be accompanied by a certificate such as this one.  The certificate had to contain a description of the item, and certified the the item had been cleared by military intelligence.  At the time, all duffel bags, cases, and packages were thoroughly inspected, and any items that did not have this certificate and stamp, were literally illegal to own or bring back home.
After 75 years, very few of these "capture papers" have survived, and even fewer remain with the original item that they certify.  It's just rare to find this, and my aim is to please someone who owns this pistol's serial number!
