Description
This is a rare WWII 29th Infantry Division photo album / scrapbook. It was kept by Sgt. Clinton C. Crocker, of Massachusetts, who served in the 175th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Battalion, Company F. He was with the 29th Division on D-Day and was wounded in action on November 11, 1944 in Germany and received the Purple Heart. The album contains various items, including photos, postcards, currency, and insignia. It includes a next-of-kin dog tag, a Combat Infantryman Badge, a Purple Heart ribbon bar, a 29th Division patch, a 69th Division patch (many 29ers transferred to the 69th Division at the end of the war), and a religious medallion. There is a Stars & Stripes "G.I. Stories" 29th Division booklet, which is loose and in very good condition. There is a 29th Division certificate that lists various statistics of the division. There is a certificate of gratitude from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. There is a newspaper clipping about the veteran being wounded in action. There are two very nice portraits of the veteran, one of which shows him wearing a cap with the 175th Infantry Regiment crest on it. There are dozens of photos in the album. Some are related to his military service and appear to be from army training and include his buddies. Many of them seem to be of family and friends. Some of the photos have the original negatives tucked in behind them. I have not removed anything from the album. It is in the same state as when I originally acquired it several years ago. Any pages that seem to be missing photos were like that when I got this album. Overall, this photo album is in good, used condition. There is a hole through the first page, as can be seen in the pictures. Please see pictures to judge the condition of this photo album. It is hard to find WWII photo albums related to the 29th Infantry Division, which famously assaulted Omaha Beach on D-Day and fought gallantly throughout Europe. This photo album would make an excellent addition to any World War II collection. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thanks for looking.
