A very large broadside offering photographs, information and maps relating to the week of October 11 - 18, 1944 (The 267th week of the war - 149th week of U.S. participation). The piece measures 34 x 46 inches and is folded. It was issued by the Industrial Division, Bureau of Public Relations, War Department in Washington. A few very small holes at the folds, otherwise in fine condition.There are two maps, one of the Philippines and the other of Aachen. "Highlighting western front war news was the battle for Aachen, just inside the German border. Units of the American First Division had partially encircled the city and given the German garrison a surrender ultimatum which was rejected. Dive bombers and artillery then submitted the city to a heavy pounding, after which the infantry complected its surround circle, andslow house to house fighting in Aachen's streets began." (#4210).
